Last Day in ParadIce

by frank on Oct.25, 2009, under Iceland, Vacations

This was our last day in Iceland, sad but true. And we had one “must do” left over: relaxing in the famous Blue Lagoon.
We took a walk of 20 minutes to the busstation getting some impressions of the city.

Also we found a bear pointing to Berlin, surprising for me, seems I’m not the first german here.
:-D

The Blue Lagoon (Bláa Lónið) was as we had expected – amazing. We arrived at noon, when there weren’t so much visitors. Two hours later this changed.

At night we went again to Café Paris, but we weren’t in “party mode”.

It was the last day and we had to get up a 4:00h to go to the airport to fly back to Alicante. So we said silently “Good Bye”.

And that’s it!

Writing my blog in a non realtime manner (well, it took 2,5 months to do it) let me relive this vacations. To summarize, I enjoyed Iceland very much, the people, the landscapes, the activities – It’s great !
I would like to return one day, not to do all again, but the things we hadn’t time for. And maybe I won’t return to the “sunny side” of Iceland, to get an impression on how is autumn or winter, to see the northern lights while laying in a hot tube, drinking a cocktail while the temperature is -15º Celsius. Sounds like fun !

Greenland day

This was the Greenland day. If one is that close he (or she) has to take the opportunity to take a look at eskimo land.

To make in more interesting the guide showed us the way over a glacier to the town, more fun than the street(way).

Finally we arrived in Kulusuk, a tiny little town with 310 habitants in 2005.

We were roundabout 3 hours in Kulusuk, but it was more than sufficient, not so much to see there, but interesting.

Iceland roundtrip, 12th day

by frank on Oct.24, 2009, under Iceland, Vacations

This day we had to drive back to Reykjavik.
:-(
We took an early breakfast in the hotel at the harbour and went on without stopping because we had to give back the car before 12:00h.

Near Reykjavik there is a rather modern tunnel (in comparision with our East Iceland experiences) going down under a fjord.

Back in Reykjavik we enjoyed the city, the shops and all the rest, back in “civilization” !

Another “must do” is to test the best hotdog stand downtown, as you can see it’s kindda famous.
